Making Waves: Slurpees, Snapper, Silvana

From ocean to ocean, hot topics this week included an icy weekend on the Atlantic and fiery action in the Pacific.

You read that right. The Brazilian contingency has a new wagon to band on. With the first 10-point ride of the 2015 season, Silvana Lima (BRA) is blowing up the Twittersphere with a familiar shout. The mantra is a nod to last year's #VaiMedina campaign, when the country threw support behind Gabriel Medina on his way to becoming the first Brazilian World Champ.

Surfers and rock stars came together Friday night for a party on the Gold Coast. After securing a spot for herself in the Roxy Pro Gold Coast Quarterfinals, reigning World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) picked up her guitar and played with the guys of Chevy Metal for a jam session by the beach. Check out this raw footage from the stage as the sun set on a big day of action.

While the Championship Tour (CT) surfers enjoy the warm waters on the Gold Coast, surfers America's East Coast are hunkered down for one of the coldest winters on record. Even the waves have frostbite:
