Surfing as an injury replacement, Alejo Muniz (BRA) broke out his powerful, wrapping turns during Round 4 at the J-Bay Open to earn an 8.17. The solid score helped win him the heat, and earn him a direct advance to the Quarterfinals.

A former Championship Tour surfer, Muniz has been on fire in recent months, sitting at the top of the Qualifying Series rankings, and now slaying the field in South Africa.
