In his Round 5 heat at the Hurley Pro, Kelly Slater (USA) was in the air, fell and rode out with panache. While the wave wowed fans, it earned 4.17 and he went on to lose the heat to Mick Fanning (AUS). During the Sunday Dawn Patrol show, Peter Mel discussed Slater's performance and why it was scored the way it was.
