Contest organizers have made the call to run the 2015 O'Neill Coldwater Classic October 16-18 at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz. The call was made based on forecast predictions from Official Forecaster Surfline.
According to Surfline Forecaster Kevin Wallis: "On Friday and Saturday a fun/contestable mix of SW and NW swells will prevail. The SW swell will be from a long run of storm activity recently near New Zealand, which has actually produced southwesterly swell throughout this week that will continue into the weekend. Confidence is slowly increasing that at least a slightly better pulse of WNW swell will build through the day on Sunday from a storm that is forecast to develop in the southern Gulf of Alaska later this week. Stay tuned, we'll have more refined details later this week as we see the storm actually develop."
This year's event will see 96 surfer vying for a piece of the $50,000 prize purse and 1,500 points up for grabs to help their campaigns to qualify for the 2016 World Tour.
