Stop No. 1 of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the Hawaiian Pro, powered through a massive day of action at Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu, as 16 heats of competition were completed.

Throughout Round 2 rail surfing seemed to be the key to success with many of the highest ranked surfers on the QS advancing. The beginning of Round 3 marked the entry of Championship Tour surfers, but several big names including Italo Ferreira (BRA), Adam Melling (AUS) and Jordy Smith (ZAF) were eliminated by hungry surfers seeking elite qualification.
