Conlogue Keeps Title Out of Tyler's Hands -- For Now

With elimination -- and a world title -- hanging in the balance, the first half of Round Two at the Roxy Pro France was high pressure. For some of the women surfing, the heat was crucial to requalify for the Championship Tour in 2017. For Courtney Conlogue, a loss in her do-or-die heat would have meant the end of her World Title campaign.

After trailing rookie Chelsea Tuach at the start, Conlogue found her groove as the minutes ticked down to take the lead and win. Tuach, who's currently ranked No. 18 on the CT, needs as many heat wins as she can get before the season is over to stay on tour. Conlogue, meanwhile, is working to catch up to rankings leader Tyler Wright, with whom she's been battling all season for what could be each woman's first-ever Title.
