Young Guns Make Their Marks at Vans World Cup

Sunset beach has long been considered a venue where veteran competitors have an edge over the younger generation. But today, Griffin Colapinto, Finn McGill, and Josh Moniz turned that theory on its head when they put on the heat of the day in pumping conditions at the Vans World Cup. The three under-20-year-olds attacked the powerful Sunset canvas with unwavering commitment, and their efforts were well-rewarded. In the end, it was 16-year-old Finn McGill who won the battle and advanced to Round Three, along with fellow North Shore local Josh Moniz. Despite an incredible performance from standout Griffin Colapinto, the 18-year-old Californian fell just short of advancing.
