Brazilians Yago Dora and Jesse Mendes ruled the skies over Newcastle on Sunday during the Final of the first QS6000 event of the 2017 season. It was a dream come true for the two friends, who grew up surfing together. Dora landed a perfect 10 in the Final, which earned him the victory that's not only a career best, but a huge leap forward for his competitive career. Up until now the renowned free-surfer has been best known for his video parts, but he jumped to the top spot on the Qualifying Series rankings on Sunday as the Qualifying Series moves down the coast to Sydney for the Australian Open.
