After her Round One heat win today, Tatiana Weston-Webb gave a tactical nod to her boyfriend Jesse Mendes, the current WSL Mens Qualifying Series leader. While they used to refrain from constructive criticism and strategic advice they're much more comfortable tackling sensitive subjects without worry. That's what makes them such a power couple.

It's a big sign of maturity from Weston-Webb, who's on the brink of joining an ever-expanding group of serious Title contenders for the WSL Women's Tour in 2017. Her tight backhand approach at Snapper echoes Matt Wilkinson's vertical attack. Her No. 4 finish in 2016 is clear indication the feisty goofyfooter from Kauai has the chops to mix it up with the Big 3 -- Tyler Wright, Carissa Moore and Stephanie Gilmore. Along with Courtney Conlogue and Malia Manuel, Weston-Webb's leading the new guard's assault on the Jeep Leaderboard.
