In a year in which she has barely made it out of Round Three on the Championship Tour -- and yet sits at No. 1 on the Qualifying Series -- Silvana Lima scored a 9.77 Tuesday at the Swatch Pro, taking down both Stephanie Gilmore and Johanne Defay in Round Three. She went on to win the heat and jump to the Quarterfinals, which is her best result all year. Afterward, the Brazilian powerhouse was clearly elated. "I'm so happy right now," she said afterward. "Steph [Gilmore] is such a great surfer and Johanne [Defay] too, so I just thought about myself out there. I just wanted to do my best and find those two waves. I was happy with a really good one -- I still can't believe it. It's big for my momentum and it's so good to finally take some success from the QS to the CT."
