John John Florence knows it's a long season. While he entered the Hurley Pro at Trestles roughly 1,000 points behind Jeep Leader Jordy Smith, he knew he was stepping into Smith's comfort zone. The South African has won this event two out of the last three years, whereas John's been plagued by poor results here over the years. Needless to say, John is always in it to win, but in terms of the long game, just a solid result at Trestles would be a huge step in the right direction. Fortunately, with his win over Jeremy Flores in Friday morning's Quarterfinal, he did just that. While Florence was felled by Filipe Toledo in the Semifinal, he'll be pretty darn happy with a 3rd place finish.
