Frederico Morais Jumps to No. 13 on QS with Semifinal Finish

Portugal's Frederico Morais thrilled his home country crowd all week with his solid surfing, but his big run came to an end in the Semifinals, when he came up against eventual winner Ezekiel Lau. But it was still a very successful week for Morais, who moved 23 spots up the Qualifying Series rankings, to No. 13. Considering he finished in the No. 3 spot during the 2016 Vans Triple Crown, he seems to be in a great spot to insure requalification through the Qualifying Series, should he need it. But Frederico is doing just fine on the Champoinship Tour at the moment, vying hard for Rookie of the Year.
