Harley Ingleby is a chance to take out his third world title when competition resumes in Taiwan - WSL / Tom Bennett
With only three heats left to surf at the Taiwan Open World Longboard Championship the tension is building as we draw closer to determining the 2017 Longboard World Title. As strong northerly winds batter Jinzun Harbour contest directors have been forced to call a lay-day and wait for conditions to settle over the coming days.
"Today was a tough call - we have really strong winds but there's a couple of waves out there," said WSL Longboard Commissioner Will Hayden-Smith. "The forecast is showing that the winds should reduce in intensity over the coming days and with two days left in the window and only three heats to surf it should be worth the wait. We are about to crown our men's world Champion for 2017 and want to do so in the best conditions possible. It is extremely exciting to see what will unfold in the coming days."
There are only four surfers left in the event and four in the title race. With Taylor Jensen, the rankings leader eliminated in the Quarterfinals, Phil Rajzman, who is not a chance at winning the world title, is one of Jensen's only hopes. If Phil wins this event, Jensen holds onto top spot on the rankings and leaves Taiwan as World Champion. If Harley Ingleby, Edouard Delpero or Cole Robbins wins the event, it will go down to a surf-off between them and Jensen.
