One of the oldest surfing events in Europe and the world, the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro returns this summer!

What?

A QS1,500 for both men and women this year, it will be the eighth stop on the European Qualifying Series that count twelve events in 2018. Formerly a CT event, and a major QS a few years back, all the greats have made their mark on the iconic beach breaks of Lacanau's central beach.

Marc Lacomare and Philippa Anderson are the most recent winners and there's a strong chance other future stars will take out this year's edition.

Plus there's a flurry of side activations with yoga and fitness classes, skate and skimboard demos, a mini surf-film festival and daily musical acts on the main stage.

Where?

An hour away from France's Southwest main city of Bordeaux, Lacanau is an extremely popular beach destination in summer and welcomes hordes of people in July and August every year.

The event site usually sets up on the northern end of the promenade near the Lacanau surf club headquarters. Here, peaky and punchy lefts and rights break out front in shallow waters and produce high-performance waves that can go world class when conditions cooperate.
