Alana Blanchard, ASP Top 17 surfer and social media phenomenon, has just re-signed a multi-year deal with long-time supporter Rip Curl. ASP caught up with Rip Curl Marketing Manager Brooke Farris to get her thoughts on the renewed partnership:
Alana has been with Rip Curl for 10 years. What does she bring to the team?
"Alana brings a sense of fun, beauty, good times and a real embodiment of 'The Search' to the Rip Curl family. She loves surfing and it shows in everything she does. She's a great representation of Rip Curl."

With one of the most passionate and robust social media followings in the sport, Alana has a massive profile. Is it safe to say there was a bidding war surrounding her renewal?
"Alana's profile has grown phenomenally in the last few years. She is the most followed surfer in the world on social media and competition for her amongst the other brands was pretty fierce. However, she is part of our family and I think her decision to renew with Rip Curl is representative of the relationship we've built together. We've been supportive of her and who she wants to be both in and out of the water and we look forward to seeing her develop more in the coming years."
Outside of surfing, how does Alana work with the Rip Curl team?
"Alana is very involved in the design process at Rip Curl - specifically with the Alana's Closet range and the Mirage Bikini line. She has very strong opinions on what she likes and is great at incorporating those into the Rip Curl ranges."
What are your predictions for Alana at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach?
"Last year, we held Round 1 in clean conditions at Rincon and Alana surfed brilliantly, even besting five-time ASP Women's World Champion Steph Gilmore. Alana is a fantastic surfer and if we get a start at Round 1 of the women's today in similar conditions, I think she'll go great and it will help her confidence throughout the event."

The relationship, dating a decade long now, goes back to when Alana was just 14 years old, competing in the NSSA at her home break, Pinetrees, in Kauai, Hawaii.
