June, July and August were particularly good months for sizable swell off Mexico and Chile in 2014. As with any great day of larger than average surf, came a number of heavy wipeouts.

Located in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Puerto Escondido was once a hidden spot, known only to locals and experienced professionals. It has now become a sought after destination of barrel lovers and big wave surfers like Shane Dorian (HAW), who submitted his wave from Puerto Escondido's July session into the 2015 Billabong XXL Ride of the Year category.

El Buey (aka the Chilean version of Pipeline) is located off the coast of Arica, Chile's northern most city. The big-wave reef break is paddle friendly in big surf, but is heavily dependent on the wind direction. Check out Kohl Christensen's (HAW) El Buey submission for the 2015 XXL Paddle In Awards.

The final quarter of the year-long event window for the 2015 XXL Awards is about to begin, take a look at some great wipeouts from the Mexican Pipeline, the mainland and El Buey.
