About Miguel Tudela
From Cristobal del Col and former World Champion Sofia Mulanovich to the all-around talented Gabriel Villarán, this South American nation has chops, and Miguel Tudela is leading the charge of Peru’s next generation of gifted surfers.
Born and raised in the coastal town of Punta Hermosa, the goofy-footer has had ample time to perfect his style among the perfect left point breaks that dot the coastline. He took a traditional trajectory through the surf world, starting with grom contests before graduating to the Junior Series and finally settling into the Qualifying Series.
His success at that level allowed him to enter the 2021 Pipe Invitational, where he threaded through tube after tube on his way to an impressive 2nd place result. That podium finish gave him a wildcard spot into the main event of the 2021 Billabong Pipe Masters.
Miguel’s willingness to throw himself over the edge at one of the world’s most dangerous waves proves he’s ready to make a serious push on the Men’s Championship Tour. In 2021 Tudela capped an impressive six months by gaining Olympic selection for the Tokyo Games spot at the ISA World Surfing Games.
