Wednesday was an abbreviated day of competition at the Oi Rio Pro due to deteriorating conditions, but there was no shortage of serious action in the four heats that did run. Four very viable title contenders faced early elimination in Round Two, and only three survived. Kolohe Andino was handed his earliest exit of the season by wildcard Yago Dora, who is looking very dangerous in the Saquarema surf. But Gabriel Medina, Owen Wright and Matt Wilkinson survived challenges big from Jesse Mendes, Bino Lopes and Lenoardo Fioravanti in the aftermath.
