Getting settled and sorted on Tavarua isn't as easy as you think when you're traveling with a bunch of the world's best. Arrival day on Tavarua and Namotu is a massive invasion, which turns into a ruthless race to see who can catch the first boat out to the lineup. Once they're on the boat, competitors do their best to verify all the essentials are intact: wax, fins, boards, even sunscreen. While jockeying for waves against the world's hungriest pack, the hope is just to get the muscles loose before settling into the more formal afternoon welcome ceremony. Mayhem? Yes. But fun?...Oh yeah.
