Which state produces the best surfers? We will find out this weekend, October 3-4, 2020, when the nations best surfers will be at Oceanside, CA for the 13th annual Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro. Six women from the Championship Tour will be taking part in the event as well as up and coming stars from around the nation. This is going to be exciting.

The specialty event will allow these outstanding females to tune up for the start of the 2021 season and get back into the competitive mindset. We've seen World Champ Italo Ferreira in action this year, now it's Carissa Moore's turn to pull on the jersey again. "I haven't competed in the ocean in about six months," shares Moore. "It's a perfect event to have fun and work out the kinks before the start of the Championship Tour in November."

The youngest competitor to surf in the event is 13-year-old Vaihitimahana Inso. "The main thing I want to do is stay present every moment and not to get ahead of myself," she shares in an interview. "I am mainly thankful to get the chance to perform at this high of a level in women's surfing."

The Super Girl Surf Pro has built a legacy of "celebrating female strength and empowerment by providing social, athletic, cultural, educational, business, and entertainment opportunities for young women in areas where they are traditionally underrepresented," as mentioned on their website.

The event has been around since 2007, bringing together the top professional female surfers to compete in Southern California as well as organizing live performances by world class artists such as Natasha Bedingfield. These are some of the reasons why the world's best come to compete.

This year however will be different. Spectators will not be permitted to attend the contest area due to COVID-19 health protocols. Fans can watch the competition on live stream through both the Super Girl Pro and World Surf League websites.
