The World Surf League's (WSL) fans, staff and Championship Tour surfers know as well as anyone how important the ocean is to our global surfing community. The ocean is our office, our playground, our place of worship, and whether you live on the coast, or thousands of miles inland, its health is vital to the health and well-being of everyone.
To show our support for our favorite place and to ensure a healthy ocean for us and for generations of surfers to come, WSL and partners recently announced the We Are One Ocean campaign, encouraging world leaders to protect 30 percent of our global ocean by the year 2030, or 30x30. How To Join The Movement
This campaign is about showing your support and sharing the message so we can all build this movement to protect the ocean together.
If you haven't already, SIGN the petition to show your support. After you've signed, tell your friends and encourage them to do the same by creating a social media post with your personal reason for signing, like Italo or Mikey, or share one of these videos or images from the WSL. Don't forget to tag #weareoneocean and @wsl for a chance to be featured.
Keep an eye out for a series of virtual events coming later this week, plus content from your favorite surfers, ocean organizations and friends, all centered around a love of our ocean and signing the petition to protect it.
On Valentine's weekend, February 11-14, join us, our athletes, friends and partners by posting your tribute to the ocean on social media -- it can be ocean-themed art, a photo of your favorite break, an ocean sunset, anything that shows your love of the ocean-and tag #weareoneocean and @wsl. Stay tuned for a recap of some of our favorites!

WSL's championship tour surfers are signing the petition to protect the ocean with over 60 organizations like World Sailing, PADI, Surfrider Foundation, Conservation International and NRDC joining the We Are One Ocean movement.
Shiseido has joined the WSL as an official partner of We Are One Ocean. Gillette Venus is also an official partner of the campaign as part of their ongoing commitment to using fewer resources by 2030. In addition, the all-new Jeep 4xe hybrid electric has joined the WSL as an official partner of We Are One Ocean
Later this year, world leaders will meet at the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD) to decide how we all use and protect our ocean. With over a million species at risk of extinction in our lifetime, this convention is a once-in-a-decade chance to protect life on our planet and safeguard a healthier future for all of us. Through petition signatures for the We Are One Ocean movement, we're hoping to show broad support of 30x30 to those leaders ahead of the UN CBD, encouraging them to all agree on this important goal -- protect 30 percent of the ocean by 2030.
Until then, we will continue to build a groundswell of public support through Championship Tour events and other moments throughout the year to show our leaders how much we all want to protect our one ocean. Help us start off strong, sign the petition today: weareoneocean.org.
