Preserve the future of surfing by signing the We Are One Ocean petition to protect and conserve our global ocean

The World Surf League's (WSL) fans, staff and athletes know as well as anyone how important the ocean is to our global surfing community. The ocean is our arena, our home, our inspiration. This Earth Day, and throughout the 2021 CT season, we are working to preserve the future of our sport with the We Are One Ocean petition. Whether you frequent a local break, or live thousands of miles inland, the ocean's health is vital to the health and well-being of everyone on Earth.

So, join our call to world leaders at the 2021 UN Convention on Biological Diversity to protect and conserve at least 30 percent of the global ocean by 2030. We're urging world leaders to be led by science and an inclusive process that embraces all stakeholder communities and considers the ocean's value to the peoples of every nation. Celebrate Earth Day with us by learning more and signing the We Are One Ocean petition today at WeAreOneOcean.org.

Later this year, world leaders will meet at the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD) to set global targets for protecting and conserving our global ocean. With over a million species at risk of extinction in our lifetime, this is a critical moment to safeguard a healthier future for all of us. Through petition signatures from surfers and ocean lovers around the world, we're hoping to show broad support for We Are One Ocean to global leaders ahead of the UN CBD, encouraging them to all vote in favor of working toward this important goal-protecting and conserving at least 30 percent of the global ocean by 2030. Learn more about the effort here.

WSL's Championship Tour surfers such as Lakey Peterson and Adrian Buchan are signing the We Are One Ocean petition along with friends and fans like Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, a marine biologist, policy expert and writer, with support from over 80 organizations, including World Sailing, PADI, Surfrider Foundation, Conservation International and Wildlife Conservation Society.

Shiseido has joined the WSL as an official partner of the We Are One Ocean campaign. Gillette Venus is also an official partner of the campaign as part of their ongoing commitment to using fewer resources by 2030. In addition, the all-new Jeep 4xe hybrid electric vehicle has joined the WSL as an official partner of We Are One Ocean.
