Morocco's Anchor Point to host the Pro Taghazout Bay QS 3,000

TAGHAZOUT, Morocco (Wednesday, January 22, 2025) - Today, the World Surf League and Taghazout Bay are excited to announce the return of the Pro Taghazout Bay from February 22 - March 1, 2025 as part of the African and European regional Qualifying Series (QS).

The inaugural event in 2020 showcased the incredible conditions that Anchor Point can offer, followed by another stellar edition in 2023 with epic performances from some of the world's best surfers. On its day, Anchor Point in Taghazout can rival any of the best waves in the world. The long righthand point break runs along a rock shelf with multiple hollow sections for high-performance surfing and can easily hold waves to double or even triple overhead.

The event's waiting period in February is ideal for swell and winds. The Pro Taghazout Bay QS 3,000 is part of the African and European QS, and potential qualification for the 2025 Challenger Series (CS) hangs in the balance.

"We are very pleased to return to Morocco and in particular to the Pro Taghazout Bay," said Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager. "This event forms a very important part of the second half of the QS season for both the Europe and Africa regions. Anchor Point in Taghazout is a world-class wave and all the athletes are very excited to be back and demonstrate their surfing in some quality point break waves."

"A special thanks to our Moroccan partners who have worked tirelessly to make the event a reality once again in 2025. The future looks bright, so here's to a fantastic event and best of luck to all our competitors who have entered."

An electrifying atmosphere surrounds the Pro Taghazout Bay QS 3,000 and attracts some of the world's best surfers. Olympic gold medalist Kauli Vaast (FRA) won this event in 2023 and returns again this year as he aims to qualify for the Challenger Series. European QS stars Keoni Lasa (EUK) and Afonso Antunes (POR) will hope to make their mark in Morocco. France's young phenom Tya Zebrowski (FRA) will make her debut in Taghazout, and top ranked Annette Gonzalez Etxabarri (EUK) and Noah Klapp (DEU) are also expected in the lineup.

The 2025 Pro Taghazout Bay is scheduled from February 22 - March 1, at Anchor Point, Taghazout Bay / Morocco. For more information, please visit WorldSurfLeague.com.
