Opening statements made from former CTers and new qualification hopefuls at Newcastle I Stone & Wood Post Show Day 1

The world's Championship Tour qualification hopefuls are back in action starting at the Burton Automotive Newcastle SURFEST Presented by Bonsoy.

Familiar faces and rising threats staked their claim on opening day proceedings with former CT veterans Julian Wilson and Kolohe Andino reestablishing themselves right away to start the season. Plus, Australia's own Alister Reginato and former CT contender Peterson Crisanto put on a showcase of power and progression. Then it was the women's turn with a fresh season and an extended qualification cut line in 2025 up for grabs. Noah Klapp, Sol Aguirre and Natalie Fensom led the way with brilliant showings to set the pace for what's expected heading into the top-seeded Round of 32. The Challenger Series is only just beginning to cook in Australia and a full week of Surfest action is on the menu.
