Caio Ibelli is one of Brazil’s freshest young talents on Tour. He learned to surf in Ubatuba at age three during family trips that originated in the heart of bustling São Paulo, where they lived. It wasn’t until Caio was 10 that his parents decided to move to humble coastal neighborhood of Guarujá fulltime to support his surfing dreams. Once there, Caio was immediately playing catch up to future stars like Gabriel Medina, Italo Ferreira, Miguel Pupo and Jadson Andre in the junior ranks. While they graduated to the Championship Tour early, becoming the front edge of the Brazilian storm, Ibelli arrived as a powerful reinforcement to their efforts after dominating the Qualifying Series in 2015. During his rookie season on the Championship Tour he made an immediate impact by knocking out John John Florence in back-to-back events during the Australian leg. He finished with strong fifth place finish at Margaret River, and beat out six other talented newbies to claim the Rookie of the Year honor. In 2017 Ibelli made his first Championship Tour Final at Bells Beach and finished once again in the Top 20. He now lives in Dana Point, California, with his longtime girlfriend and fellow pro, Alessa Quizon. The two met in Bali at the World Juniors back in 2012 and have been an item ever since. Ibelli is known for his high-energy personality, which matches his surfing. He’s fast, compact and powerful, and excels in hollow conditions.
