In 2016, Kelly Slater Wave Company (KSWC), joined the WSL as an innovative wave technology company. KSWC is the first to develop a formula that combines cutting-edge science, engineering, and design to create the longest, open-barrel, high-performance wave in existence.
In 2018, WSL announced the creation of WSL Studios, focused on being the home of live competitive surf content and the premier place to create short-form, TV series, documentaries and feature films oriented around surfing, surf-lifestyle and ocean conservancy.

Surf RanchCookWaveCo. Lemoore
Works under the supervision of the Director of Hospitality, Front of House Manager, and Chef’s. The cook is responsible for assisting the culinary team on the preparation of all meals and menu items. The position is responsible for ensuring quality meals and service for Surf Ranch guests during their stay. The Cook should familiarize themselves with the guests that are coming to visit Surf Ranch and be knowledgeable of any dietary or allergy restrictions. This role is seasonal and temporary in nature until December 2020.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Ensure that the kitchen and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with company standards and health code regulations
- Prepare food/maintain facility in accordance with company and health code regulations
- Stay current on restaurant industry trends
- Identify new culinary techniques and presentations

World Surf League (WSL) is looking for a Coordinator to join the Human Resources team. The Coordinator will have a heavy focus on payroll administration and assist in general projects for the Human Resources team. The right candidate for this position will be an individual who has a natural intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills and is confident working independently. The Coordinator should have the desire to drive improvements and continuously simplify processes. Please note this is a Seasonal role.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure an accurate and timely payroll is processed, including base pay, payroll taxes, 401(k), statutory and supplemental benefits, etc.
- Management of payroll-related projects including payroll documentation, resolving payroll tax issues and supporting audits.
- Process terminations in ADP & calculation of final pays, including maintenance and tracking COBRA.
- Run monthly benefit reports and assist in benefit correspondences.
- Administer the day-to-day aspects of the retirement plans including enrollment, contribution funding, distribution of appropriate notices, account rollovers, loans, etc.

This strategic and commercially-minded executive will develop strategy to further the overall WSL business plan, leveraging insight and data across all marketing and revenue programs and platforms. This will include identifying all key growth opportunities for the business, defining fan / audience segments and profiles, acquisition of new fans / audiences, increasing avidity and consumption among existing audiences and mapping audience to revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and articulate the voice of the consumer across all business decision-making. Provide actionable insights grounded in consumer knowledge and guided by a broader understanding of business context to drive growth strategies across all marketing and revenue-driving assets and initiatives - including content, distribution, social, digital and media-buying, database, app, talent, events and more.

Surf RanchFacilities Lead (Grounds)WaveCo. Lemoore
Under the direct supervision of the Surf Ranch Facilities Manager, the Facilities Lead is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of Surf Ranch grounds and facilities, ensuring tasks get completed on time. This position keeps the location clean and maintained in all areas. Facilities Leads perform work with a high degree of accuracy and skill maintaining the overall appearance of the grounds, which results in a safe well-groomed environment. The Lead role must have a thorough understanding of all facilities and equipment, systems and be able to lead, coach and instruct other team members.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Sweeping and maintaining the grounds to keep it free of debris
- Clearing brush and trimming shrubs around various parts of the property
- Maintaining the exterior condition of the overnight accommodation (airstreams)
- Servicing the hot tub, bicycles, equipment and other items at Surf Ranch when required
- Assisting with Project work, which may include minor construction, or building activities

The Surf Ranch General Manager is the site wide management representation at Surf Ranch. The General Manager provides leadership and direction to ensure overall guest satisfaction and financial success of the location. The GM will be responsible for short and long-term planning, strategic direction and successful operation of the Surf Ranch and related areas. The Surf Ranch GM must have a thorough understanding of the Wave System, Water Safety, Hospitality, Maintenance and Administration functions.

Surf RanchLifeguardWave Co. Lemoore
The Lifeguard plays a strong role in keeping Surf Ranch guests safe. Under the direct supervision of the Surf Ranch Manager of Water Safety, the Lifeguard will be responsible for Surf Ranch water safety and medical aid when incidents occur. The Lifeguard will make water related decisions with the utmost regard for Surf Ranch employees and its guests. The Lifeguard must have and expert level understanding of all wave system operations as well as the ability to direct others and manage others in a team and group setting. The Lifeguard will direct Surf Coaches when any medical or water related emergency occurs. This is a Seasonal role, which is temporary in nature.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Actively observe activities in the wave basin and facilitate a safe guest experience.
- Manage all employees and guests who enter the wave basin to surf, assist surfers, or to maintain the basin itself.
- Work directly with Hospitality, Surf Hosts, Surf Coaches, and other Lifeguards to ensure a timely schedule as to when guests should be in the water for their designated heat.
- Direct all Surf Coaches when minor and/or major water and medical emergencies occur.
- Complete detailed reports for all incidents that require lifeguard contact.

Surf RanchMaintenance TechnicianWave Co. Lemoore
The Full-Time Maintenance Technician supports daily wave operations by safely operating, maintaining, and inspecting the wave systems equipment, and other duties assigned within the Maintenance Department at Surf Ranch. The Maintenance Technician will work directly under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Ensure wave system safety, quality, operation and compliance of all equipment at the Surf Ranch.
- Respond and resolve maintenance issues that affect wave quality and performance in a timely manner. Ensure the work is performed correctly and follows all approved procedures.
- Communicate accurately and in a timely manner, matters which pertain to the operational status/readiness of the wave system to the Maintenance Manager.
- Support requests of all operating groups/departments within Surf Ranch and WaveCo in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain machines and equipment in safe, operating order. Make repairs as appropriate or determine when vendors should be contacted for servicing.
- Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, or descriptions of parts to be inspected and/or replaced.
- Maintain and control inventories at levels adequate to sustain efficient operations. Places special orders for materials based on work order requirements.
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures within the Maintenance Department at Surf Ranch.
- Ensure that unscheduled work performed is correctly documented.

Surf RanchSurf GuideWave Co. Lemoore
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Surf Guide to commence work in late January 2021. Surf Guides play an integral role in guest safety and guest experience both in and out of the water at Surf Ranch. Under the direct supervision of the Surf Guide Manager, the Surf Guide will perform various duties at the Surf Ranch facility. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating guest surfing, enforcing rules, and providing quality guest service. The Surf Guide will work directly with guests to provide them with the best possible surfing experience during their time at Surf Ranch. The Surf Guide must have a thorough understanding of all ‘wave system’ operations including a working knowledge of the Surf Ranch Wave, as well as lifeguard duties as they pertain to emergency communication and response.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Instruct, advise, and assist guests with all surfing operations.
- Provide in water surf coaching in a manner consistent with the company’s surf coach program.
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of visitors.
- Provide video analysis and coaching during feedback sessions following surfing activities in a manner consistent with the company’s coaching program.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of surf instruction that can be applied to all skill levels, fully incorporating the company’s surf guide training program
- Strong communication skills to communicate to staff during emergency response via hand signals and other communication protocols
- 10+ years of surfing experience
- Surf Ranch specific water safety training
- CPR/AED & First Aid Certified preferred
- Previous surf lesson experience preferred

Physical requirements
- Physically able to swim, swim in rough and deep water, walk, run, walk or run over rough or uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, and carry loads.
- Must be able to swim at least 550 yards, dive at least 10 feet deep, swim with a 10 pound object for at least 20 yards, and tread water for at least 2 minutes.
- Must be able to watch and supervise groups of students in the ocean and/or bay while coaching technique and supervising safety.
- Must be able to recognize and respond to emergencies and prevent injuries or drowning.

The Part-Time Wave Operator is responsible for proper operation of the wave system. The Wave Operator also maintains responsibility for safety operations and assists in coordination of staff response during emergencies. The Wave Operator works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager and must have a thorough understanding of all ‘Wave System’ operations, as well as lifeguard duties as they pertain to emergency communication and response.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Operate the wave system safely.
- Initiate the appropriate ‘wave shutdown’ in the event of an emergency or lifeguard response.
- Participate in all scheduled in-service training.
- Complete incident reports when required.
- Keep a concise log of downtime, faults, and performance related issues.
- Understand the Surf Ranch Wave System and Water Safety plan.
- Knowledge of the Surf Ranch site and facility operations.
- Operational understanding of ‘running’ the wave to ensure safety of all patrons and staff.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate to staff during emergency response via 2-way radio, PA system, or other necessary means.
- Working knowledge of wave creation equipment such as winch, gears, pivot, water etc.
- Ability to keep a concise, accurate, and legible wave log.
