Reynolds: My Life as a Wildcard

By now you've likely updated your Fantasy picks and re-watched First Chapter five times, because Dane Reynolds (USA) is back, again. The former CT surfer from Ventura, Calif., will be competing at the J-Bay Open with his third wildcard entry of the season. While he was in Fiji in early June, Reynolds talked about the pressure to perform as a wildcard and feeling "blessed" to have the opportunity.

The WSL Commissioner's Office awarded Reynolds another wildcard shot in Jeffreys Bay, citing his skill and equal-ninth finish at the Fiji Pro as factors in the decision. The news is all the more interesting in light of a WSL rule change that allows wildcards to keep rankings points. Reynolds currently sits at No. 34, well below the No. 22 cutoff. However, he still ranks higher than full-time CT surfers C.J. Hobgood (USA) and Brett Simpson (USA).

Don't miss Reynolds when he challenges the Top 34 at the J-Bay Open. The action starts LIVE here and on the WSL App July 8 local time (July 7/PT).
