Day 2 Highlights
2:37
The second day of the Pro Anglet witnessed both men and women's matchups go down in clean conditions at Chambre d'Amour.

The Pro Anglet resumed on Day 2 in clean three-to-four foot waves at la Chambre d'amour to complete the men's third round as well as the women's first round and first four heats of the second round.

Jorgann Couzinet (REU) 21, belted the day's highest combined heat total of 15.70 for his combination of powerful turns and aerial manoeuvers in the punchy lefts of Chambre d'amour.

"Waves were super fun and I've trained a lot here in these conditions," Couzinet said. "I figured it's just like freesurfing and I needed to do airs and land a couple. I couldn't find the proper bowl section to go big but I'm super happy to have made the heat with good scores."

Hailing from Reunion Island, Couzinet spends a lot of time in Anglet and has formed a good relationship with a local shaper, former Al Merrick crew now independant, to develop his quiver based on the conditions on hand. Local knowledge and fitting boards allowed the young surfer to exploit every section on offer south-side of the pier.

"I come to test all my boards here," Couzinet continued. "This spot is very special and changes a lot through the different tides so it definitely helps to surf it very often and in all sorts of waves. I'm confident at the moment and really enjoying myself so I'll keep at it and try to make a few more rounds. I love to train hard and improve so I'm going to do just that."

Thiago Guimaraes (BRA) 23, made a statement of his own with a solid heat to conclude the men's third round and will look to confirm his new found form when the top seeds enter the show as the event resumes.

"I was super lucky, conditions were tough and I managed to find two good waves right at the beginning," Guimaraes said. "I sat out there with priority and waited for the set and luckily I got that good wave right at the end. I'm stoked to make it and continue to surf here in Anglet. It's my first time surfing here and I love it so far we had fun conditions."

Bailey Nagy (HAW) 19, came out on top of her round 1 bout, advancing ahead of current European Junior No.2 Teresa Bonvalot (PRT). With a good 14.67 heat total, Nagy bested the women's field and will be trying to keep her momentum going into the second round when the event starts again.

"I'm really psyched, I've been doing terrible this year on the QS so to have that win was nice finally," Nagy stated. "All my boards didn't turn out well here so I'm actually riding a friend's board and I'm really thankful that she rides the same size boards as me. I came to France last year and it's super fun, it's really beautiful and the food is amazing, plus the waves have actually been a lot better than last year when I came so I'm happy."

Last minute heroics from Guadeloupe's Kim Veteau (GLP) 17, saw the young regular footer take the win in the very last heat of the day, advancing ahead of round 1 sensation Dax McGill (HAW) and eliminating event No.2 seed Chelsea Tuach (BRB) in the process.

Local hero Pauline Ado (FRA) 24, took control of her opening heat in Anglet as well to easily qualify for the women's third round of competition.

Surf Report, official forecaster of the Pro Anglet, calls for another push tomorrow in the four-to-five foot range with light winds early, turning onshore in the afternoon.

Thursday, surfers and event officials will reconvene at 7 a.m. for a potential early start to capitalize on the morning offshore winds.
