Bede Durbidge Injured at Pipeline

On his first wave in the Billabong Pipe Masters Round 3, Bede Durbidge (AUS) took a big fall and was brought to shore, effectively ending his heat against rookie Keanu Asing (HAW). Durbidge was taken to the hospital for examination.

Update: From WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow: "He went over the falls after that wipeout and slammed straight into [the reef]. Unfortunately, he fractured his pelvis in two places -- front and back. He's going in to have surgery just to stabilize that fracture and everything will be OK, but there will be a recovery process after that. Right now thoughts are with him and his wife and his family."

The WSL will provide more updates as they become available.
