Big Wave Champ Paige Alms Drops In on Dawn Patrol

It should be no surprise that, according to big-wave charger Paige Alms, "the most fun thing you can do" is have an empty lineup at Pe'ahi. The Maui local should know: Pe'ahi -- also known as Jaws -- is her home break, and she not only just won the Pe'ahi Challenge, the first-ever big-wave contest there for women, but was also crowned the first-ever women's Big Wave Champion.

On the Dawn Patrol show Wednesday during the Maui Women's Pro, Alms stopped by the desk to discuss her winning strategy, her close bond with her shaper (hint: he's also her boyfriend) and what it was like paddling out with just five other people at Pe'ahi -- and all of them women.
