When Tyler Wright opened the season with a Quarterfinal loss on the Gold Coast, then went winless in the next two, some wondered if the reigning World Champion would be able to repeat. After all, in 2016 she won three of the first four events, and blitzed the field by a mile.
But while she may not be on any record-breaking pace, Wright's quietly carved her way to the top of the Jeep Leaderboard again. Thanks to her win at the Oi Rio Pro and Semifinal appearances at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach and Outerknown Fiji Pro, she's now 1,500 points above world No. 2 Sally Fitzgibbons.
