In a stacked heat of the world's top rising talents, Hawaii's Brisa Hennessy topped the field to win the Vans US Open of Surfing Women's Junior contest. Hennessy, who hails from Oahu, has been an increasingly familiar face for surf fans. In the Hawaii/Tahiti Nui region, she is ranked No. 6 on the Junior Tour. Last year, she scored a wildcard spot in the women's Championship Tour contests at Bells and then again in Maui.
In her post-win interview, she was visibly emotional. "There are just no words that describe how I really feel right now, this is so incredible and will never forget this. I can't thank my family and everyone back home for all their support, I couldn't do this without them."
