John John Florence is a surfer who, perhaps more than any other pro on the Championship Tour, makes the nearly impossible look easy. This is especially true when it comes to his backside tube-riding skills, which he honed at the world-famous Pipeline, conveniently located in his backyard. Fortunately for Florence, these same skills transfer over nicely to Teahupo'o where, for the past six years, he's been one of the best performers on Tour. In this clip, 1988 World Champion Barton Lynch puts Florence's technique through some forensic examination to help you better understand the essentials when it comes to state-of-the-art tube-riding. Though you may not find yourself at Teahupo'o or Pipeline anytime soon, the lessons can easily be applied to your own backhand sessions.
