Jeremy Flores is a jovial character, but sometimes he thrives on anger. That's exactly what happened during his Round Four match with Gabriel Medina and Italo Ferreira on Monday. According to Flores, Medina was getting a little stingy with his priority, holding him off waves. Technically, that can cost a surfer priority if the priority judge deems that's the case. But no call was made.
Sure enough, Medina made the most of his priority, steering into one of the biggest bombs of the heat, and taking a big lead. But Flores wasn't done. The former Pipe Master fired back in a big way, nabbing an 8.93 in the closing moments of the heat to take the win. While Medina wasn't eliminated, he was thrown into a Round Five match with Kelly Slater, the man who has more Pipe Masters victories than any other.
