The annual, Prime-rated Men's contest in HB typically attracts some of the world's best surfers. In addition to Slater, Jordy Smith (ZAF), Julian Wilson (AUS) and Sebastian Zietz (HAW) are also slated to compete.

Slater, who is currently ranked World No. 6 on the elite ASP World Champion Tour (WCT), last competed at the J-Bay Open in South Africa. He was eliminated in Round 3, in a heat against Matt Wilkinson (AUS).

The US Open runs through Sunday, August 3. In addition to the QS contest, the event features Women's CT and Juniors contests, among other happenings throughout the week. The women's heats start Tuesday, July 29, and will stream live on aspworldtour.com. Until then, peruse photos of some of the Open's stars and get tips on your Fantasy Roster with the ASP run-down.
