CAPBRETON, France (Thursday, February 14, 2013) – Our friends at Ocean Surf Report have just published an exclusive interview of France's Jeremy Flores, just days before the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour season starts on the Gold Coast of Australia. In an short conversation, Flores talks big waves, balancing up-and-downs and expectations for the upcoming season.
Océan Surf Report : How have you been and what are you up to ?
Jeremy Flores : I just arrived in Australia, I have spent a few months in Hawaii it was a crazy winter with non-stop swells, really intense ! I think I've learned a lot at every level, whether it be in big surf, tube-riding or even airs ! Most Europeans came home for the Christmas season. I would have liked that as well but I just couldn't pass on the opportunity to surf those perfect swells with nobody out.. I just got here on the Gold Coast and I'm about to start preparing for the upcoming first event.
OSR : You wrote on your blog that you surfed one of the biggest wave of your life recently, tell us about this session ?
JF : It wasn't just this one wave in particular but multiple swells really.. I surfed the biggest sessions of my life for sure, and I made the biggest drops as well. There were so many big days this season it was scary ! You never know what to expect, after each surf I was just happy to be alive and well ! It's a really different sensation and I learned a lot about myself and my limitations. I had some scary moments and I now fully understand why the big wave riders train that much to surf those waves.
