Florence Solidifies Semifinal Victory With Tricky Supertubos Barrel

With his World Title hopes coming to a boiling point at the MEO Rip Curl Pro, John John Florence didn't take any chances against an on-fire Kolohe Andino in the Semis. The Jeep Leader knew he needed to crack the Final if he wanted a shot at the Title in Portugal. With six minutes remaining in their low-scoring heat, Florence took control of his fate by winding his way through a tight barrel at Supertubos. His 7.67 on this wave gave him a commanding lead over Andino, and earned the World No. 1 a spot in the Final. Conner Coffin's win over Jordy Smith in the next heat officially clinched the Title for the Hawaiian.
