#Tournotes: Eddie Opening Ceremony

Nothing marks the beginning of winter on the North Shore like the opening ceremony of the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau. In this edition of #Tournotes, some of the world's best big-wave riders weigh in on the iconic event and reflect on last year's historic day where 2016 World Champ John John Florence took his first Eddie victory. The Eddie only runs if waves at Waimea Bay reach 40 feet on the face, and due to this strict requirement, the event has only run nine times its 32-year history. As the saying goes, "the Bay calls the day."

The waiting period for the 32nd annual Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau runs from December 1, 2016 - February 28, 2017.
