With just seconds remaining in their Round Three heat, 3x World Champion Carissa Moore dramatically took down 6x World Champ and Snapper Rocks local Stephanie Gilmore. Rarely do Champs face off so early in an event, but due to Steph's unusually low seed this season (No. 6) fans were treated to an intense showdown between the world-class talents. The bonus? Neither surfer faced elimination, as Round Three is a no-loser set of heats. It was win-win for everyone, and there's still a chance that they'll meet again later in the event, when the stakes are even higher.
