It's been a very rough rookie season for Ethan Ewing. Six events in, the 2016 World Junior Champion and No. 2 finisher on the Qualifying Series was still looking for his first heat win on opening day of the Billabong Pro Tahiti. Though he's shown us several flashes of brilliance this year, none of it has resulted in an advancement...until Friday, during the closing moments of his heat against Toledo, Ewing found a diamond in the rough and tumble conditions on tap at Teahupo'o.
