Next Up on the QS, Casablanca!
Nicolas Leroy
As a week in Azores wraps up and everyone contemplates going back to mainland Europe where the season slowly fades away, a lucky few will keep their endless summer alive a little longer heading further south to Morocco for the upcoming Anfaplace Pro Casablanca.
For the third consecutive year, the vibrant city of Casablanca will host the best European surfers and a bunch of international athletes for a week of high-performance surfing in moroccan waters. Every year the event brings crowds to the beach directly facing the Anfaplace Shopping Center and provides the local community and travelers alike with an amazing experience.
It's not all just fun and games though, the men and women's QS1,500 not only offers decent points but it will also crown the European champions! As the last counting event in the 2017 season, Casa will put an end to an exciting year-long battle that started in Israel and took surfers to eleven locations across the (extended) Old Continent. Current QS No.8 Jorgann Couzinet and Carol Henrique lead the race and could be fresh faces on top of the European surfing ladder for their first-ever regional titles.
This event is also a great opportunity to showcase the potential surf stars groomed on the moroccan coastline. Everybody knows their ambassador, Ramzi Boukhiam who's flying the national flag higher than ever this season on the Qualifying Series; but it will also be a chance to shed some light on the younger generations coming up like event wildcards Yassine Ramdani , Aboubakar Bouaouda, Fatima Zahra Berrada and Lillias Tebbai.
And as always if the action in the water ends early, everyone will turn to the long list of activations organized by Anfaplace Shopping Center both on the beach and within the mall. This includes a surf simulator, photo call, live music, fitness bootcamps, yoga and much, much more.
Check out all the photos, videos and updates right here.
