Wish you could look into a crystal ball and see what the future of surfing looks like? Instagram's about as good as you're going to get -- and three groms just dropped some clips that may give a pretty good idea of where we're headed.
First, we have 14-year-old João Mendonça from Portugal. He recently scored the wave of the day at epic Coxos in a stacked line-up that included Italo Ferreira, Frederico Morais and Nic von Rupp. A shelving, slabbing reef that takes a whole lot of nerve to charge, the moment is demonstrative of where Europe's next generation of charges is looking to take things. If the kid's getting this barreled already, just wait until he's old enough to drive.
Second is the surging 17-year-old Eli Hanneman. He just dropped a behind-the-scenes look at his recent run to the Quarterfinals at the Volcom Pipe Pro. We've all known young Eli is going places for sometime now, but as he continues to assert himself, get bigger, stronger and more confident, look out world!
And finally, a rising Roxy girl, Tahiti's Vahine Feirro just threaded this epic tube at home in Tahiti.
"I was one happy human after this barrel," verified Vahine.
How could she not be? That thing was epic!
Nice surfing boys and girls … now all of you, get back to school!
