Surfboard designer and the inventor of the bodyboard Tom Morey was once asked if he still surfs. His beatific response sums up what it means to be a surfer:
"If I'm looking at the ocean, I'm surfing. If I'm driving down the road and stick my hand out the window and ride the airwaves, I'm surfing. When I'm playing jazz, I'm surfing," he explained.
We find ourselves in uncharted waters. As governments and health officials around the world continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more and more travel restrictions are put in place for the sake of our health and safety, the reality of the moment is that the best thing you can do is hunker down and prepare to ride this thing out.
Audition your favorite content as the WSL takes a pause from competitive surfing.
Thankfully, surfing has always been a place of refuge. Whether it's the actual act of riding a wave, or day dreaming about epic barrels gone by, or painting a picture of the deep blue sea, it's all surfing.
And with that mindset, as all WSL events are now postponed through May, we'd like to know what you'd like to see here?
Because staying at home is the best thing you can do right now, we're leaning into the power of the WSL to provide you with the type of surf content you'd like to see you to keep you entertained and the vibes up.
So, what it's it? The best of the Tour? All those top tens, surfer highlights and epic heats?
Is it more freesurfing action with behind-the-scenes moments? Is it more insights into training and equipment?
Or ... maybe it's just something brand spanking new?
