When the cbdMD Jaws Big Wave Championships ran in December, Maui QS surfer Cody Young and younger brother Levi scored perfect Honolua Bay.
Honolua Bay has a lot of moods and faces. You can see it completely flat in the summertime, but when that north northwest swell arrives in the winter, it can grant you the best session of your life.
Cody's "One Day At The Bay" clip captured one of those rare, perfect sessions. It also provided a good start to his YouTube channel.
Cody's got a thing for Hawaiian right-hand walls. Last year, he kicked off the season with his first-ever QS win at the Sunset Open taking down a stacked crew including fellow Maui waterman Billy Kemper, 2020 CT Rookie Jack Robinson and Oahu charger Kiron Jabour.
At the end of the year he went on to make the final at the Vans World Cup of Surfing again at Sunset.
Young also had a strong junior campaign, winning the Vans US Open of Surfing Pro Junior in 2017 alongside CT surfer Brisa Hennessy.
We have no doubt we'll be seeing a lot more of Cody in the jersey when the time comes, but until then his inspired freesurfing is plenty to keep us entertained.
