In 2018 the mens's World Title race went all the way down to the final event of the year, the Billabong Pipe Masters. Three of the fiercest competitors on the Championship Tour, Gabriel Medina, Julian Wilson and Filipe Toledo were all in with a shot of securing surfing's highest honor.

Part 1: Pipe Invitational

After a few lay days the Pipe Invitational finished with Ryan Callinan and Benji Brand taking top honors. Callinan Wins the Pipe Invitational and Benji Brand comes in 2nd - both earning a Wildcard spot into the Billabong Pipe Masters.

Part 3: Medina Keeps Marching, Toledo Falls Short

The current World No.1 Gabriel Medina defeats Seth Moniz in Round 3 at the Billabong Pipe Masters and continues marching towards the World Title. Filipe Toledo is eliminated by Kelly Slater in R3 of the Billabong Pipe Masters, now only Gabriel Medina and Julian Wilson can win it all.

Part 4: Finals Day

In dominating fashion Gabriel Medina wins the 2018 World Title and the Billabong Pipe Masters. Clinching the World Title in the Semis, Medina kept the ball rolling beating rival Julian Wilson in a hard-fought Final; a repeat match up from the 2014 Pipe Masters, where Wilson won the event and Medina the Title. Medina becomes the first Brazilian in history to win two World Titles. Jesse Mendes takes the Vans Triple Crown title.
