Although his 2nd place finish in the 2010 Pipe Masters had been the best result of his career, for journeyman competitor Keiren Perrow the result was bittersweet. He thought he'd won, only to have the victory snatched away in the final moments of the heat by Jeremy Flores. Ghosts of the previous year's upset no doubt haunted Perrow as he paddled out for the 2011 final against fellow Aussie Joel Parkinson. Perrow had already put on an impressive showing in epic Pipeline conditions, but these 4-6-foot windswept chop waves of the final would be the most intense of the event for him. The hard-won result was the best result of his career.
