26. Larry Rios and Derek Ho Play Defense on Gary Elkerton 

By 1993, Gary "Kong" Elkerton had been so close to winning a World Title he could taste it. The only thing standing in his way this time: a finals berth at the season-ending Pipe Masters. But Derek Ho had another fairytale ending in mind that year, keeping Elkerton off a set wave in the dying seconds of their four-man semifinal heat. That block allowed fellow Hawaiian Larry Rios to get the wave and the score he needed to move past Elkerton and permanently cement Kong's legacy as one of the greatest surfers to never win a World Title.
