Three airs on one wave for a near-perfect 9.80. The ride that Filipe Toledo put together in 2018 may still stand as the single greatest run at the Surf Ranch.
After opening with a couple quick snaps and set-up turns, Toledo finds his rhythm with a effortless air reverse. Spinning back around on the landing, he goes right into an 11-second tube ride.
That'd be pretty much a dream combo for any other surfer in the world, but Toledo was just getting started. Flying out of the barrel he punts a clean alley-oop.
Landing stomped, he finds his way into the second barrel of the ride. And again, comes flying out and launches a huge alley-oop, the highest air of the run. A couple more aggressive carves round out the wave and Toledo gives a tip of the cap to the crowd.
The score comes in at 9.80. The vocal Brazilian fans let the judges know they think it should have been a 10. Either way, Toledo set the performance bar that still remains to this day.
The only question, can he do it again this weekend at the Jeep Surf Ranch Pro presented by Adobe?
