The World Surf League (WSL) Africa office has signed with the global sports management organisation, Prosport International, to support the marketing and sponsorship of regional events in South Africa.

"We, at Prosport International, are proud to announce our partnership with the World Surf League, as their exclusive marketing and sponsorship agency for the Qualifying Series, Juniors and Longboard in South Africa," said Michael Makaab, Prosport International CEO. "Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the contribution that the late Gary Grant and his team at Accelerate Sport made to the sport of surfing and the WSL, and commit to doing our best to continue in this vein."

With more than two decades of experience in the sports industry and offices throughout Africa and Europe, Prosport International understands the markets and the value propositions of the various sporting properties and has built strong relationships with the relevant decision-makers in the industry.

"Our country is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches and waves in the world, which sets the backdrop for social, amateur and professional surfers to test their skills. We look forward to working with the WSL team, and hope together to take South African surfing to greater heights," said Makaab.

"It is fantastic to have formed a working relationship with Prosport International," said Colin Fitch, WSL Africa Operations Manager. "Surfing in South Africa is growing at a rapid rate and the development programs are starting to bear fruit."

"Working hand-in-hand with Prosport International will see sustainable growth in our domestic events across South Africa and potentially the rest of Africa," Fitch concluded.
