Kelsey González, bassist for The Free Nationals and surfer, joins The Lineup to talk about the connection between music and surfing. He starts with his experience in surfing, growing up in Orange County and surfing up and down the California coast, how he balances surfing with touring, his love for Bobby Martinez, his favorite surfers and stops on the Championship Tour, watching the tour from all over the world, and getting the opportunity to surf and play music at the Surf Ranch with Kelly Slater. Then he switches over to talk music. He describes the origins of Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals to winning a Grammy with Anderson .Paak, working with Dr. Dre, nerves when performing live in front of massive crowds, playing music and surfing with Flea, Anthony Keidis, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the difference between concerts in the US and abroad, and the career achievement he's most proud of.
